Srinagar – The Gem Of Kashmir

Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal and Anchar lakes. The city is known for its natural environment, gardens, waterfronts and houseboats.

1. Nigeen Lake

Nigeen Lake is a mildly eutrophic lake located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is sometimes considered a part of the Dal lake and is connected to it via a narrow strait.

2. Pahalgam

Pahalgam is a tourist town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a popular tourist destination and a hill station. Its lush green meadows and pristine waters attract thousands of tourists from all over the world each year. [1] It is located 45 kilometers (28 mi) from Anantnag on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet (2,200 m). Pahalgam is the headquarters of one of the five tehsils of the Anantnag district. Pahalgam is associated with the annual Amarnath Yatra.

 Dal Lake

Dal Lake is widely regarded as being the “jewel in the crown of Kashmir”. On a more local note, it is also referred to as the “jewel of Srinagar”. Those unfamiliar with the location of this lake may be surprised to learn that, far from being a remote and isolated beauty spot, Dal Lake is sited within the major city of Srinagar and is therefore regarded as being an “urban lake”.
